Audience demographics

1) This adverts target audience is to families. The use of a cute and adorable child makes it compelling as you find it sympathetic, you know what he's waiting for and are eager to see how it turns out. The use of a national celebrated holiday excites the viewer as gives them ideas for christmas. The advert appeals to a family as its about a little boy wanting to give presents to his parents for christmas rather than vise versa. This is one characteristic in specific that appeals to its demographic audience. It it because it appeals to all families, as they consist of each member, parents and their children attentively.

2) The irrelevance of this short montage to the actual product compels the viewer as in order to see what the advert is about they must sit through it all. By staring an attractive, good French actor some may see the recognition. Also because he is French and it is for a French company is makes logic sense when he says the name of the product because he has the accent. I find that this appeals to its demographic audience which I can only assume is teenage years, as I am a teenager. Also because I recognize this actor, enjoy his movies and like him. Hence why I was attentive towards him throughout the advert. The videos lines of appeal are successful, romance and love. As this advert covers all these aspects.

3) This advert taps into audiences aspirational tendencies, women in specific. By staring a hunky man in the advert women find a instant attraction as there is an almost perfect ideal man which also demo graph in dreams and fantasies. It appeals to women as it is almost every womans desire to be stuck in a lift with a hunky man and the taste of coke seems to help with this.

Advert Evaluation

Our advert revolves around 'MAC' a makeup brand and we focussed this not only just on lipstick as seen in the story during the advert but literally all the variety of the products the brand consist of. It was very important that we do this makeup brand justice as they have never made a tv appearance nor had an advert. Even though they are globally a successful brand.

The concept of this advert, is essentially about 'brightening the world' in some extent as MAC come in various shades and we wanted to acknowledge those unaware of this. We have a model walking through the streets of London from her home and adding color to the dullness of places shown in the video.

We cannot compare this to a professionally made video for this product as there is not yet one official one. But compared to other makeup brand adverts in the market out there, this defiantly is one that shows a story and has more to it than that. Also because this shows other quantity of makeup by the brand itself available,  so if lipstick is something that a costumer is not attentive to or does not share much interest in a particular makeup type. This advert makes them aware of the availability of other products within the same brand.

The persuasive techniques used in this advert is,  in terms of reflecting to Gilliam Dyer its 'beautiful women'  looking good or a certain way to attract men or look a somewhat specific image.  To admire or to be admired. Also the use of many looks shown in the video of how you could wear the makeup is a persuasion to the audience.

Based on the feedback I have received I would say a number of people have said they would want to buy the products, or the advert has made them want to buy the product. Hence our advert has been successful if the products were to make sales.

The advert is targeted as women in specific, not so much of a restrictive age range, just teenage to older years, the age you generally would wear makeup. It is pricer than average makeup so I would say upper class or the working class, as they would be able to afford it.

Essentially all the feedback I have received is positive with one criticism, which is one thing in particular and all the comments state this. A positive that almost everyone who commented seem to agree on is that out advert was effective in meeting the target audience and is appealing. Knowing this makes me feel like we have achieved the purpose/aim and hence our effort has payed off well.

One aspect in particular I was not happy with was that the editing made it seem unprofessional and there was too much going, it had more than one thing to be focused on. Initially it was just meant to be one story, Karina walking through the streets of London adding color to the dull world. This was the original, used and main idea I stated we should do. I felt the extra adding video effects were unnecessary.
Also when Karina mouths 'mac' there should of been a voice over, instead of the constant play of the music. A feedback I received stated this and frankly I agree as I put through the idea that there is a voice over yet there wasn't one.
I think next time, to avoid this from happening we can all agree on something before we have produced a final product. And engage this with all member of the group, better communication.

Evaluation for Livia: my video- NOT COMPLETED

I chose a scenario that would convey a message as well as the purpose of camera shots. I picked a very common issue as I thought it would be very beneficial to address something thats so sensitive and to acknowledge the appealing age which is teenage years.

I applied the 5 angle shot rule in one significant scene, which emphasised the emotions of a victim suffering from bullying very well. With a series of close up of panning and zooming, it portrayed a very well built up dramatic peformance. However it would of have been more useful if I had applied various of shots in other scenes other than this one in particular. Even though the scene at the beginning shows the dominance of the characters bullying the victim in the video, its also shows their importance. This is because they are filmed from a low angle view which emphasises them as superior as they are the bullies.

The choice of music I feel is well fitted, the suitablity of the music in the scene has an impact on the viewers emotions as it results in the tense build up later in the video.

The ending of the video is not there as I did not have enough time to film and then continuing editing it on to my video. It was dissapointing because I would have liked to have left a clifhanger, which would allow the audience to make up their mind on how the video/story would end.
